Lighting Columns and Other Electrical Equipment
KeyLIGHTS has a symbol library with over 500 variants for different types of lighting column and lamp. Identification of symbols is simple due to the structured nature of the symbol range. Columns can be automatically inserted at chosen spacings along a road, or by using tools for easy measurement between columns.
Data Driven Design
Column and lamp data is stored with each symbol in the design drawing and can easily be exported for use with other programs along with location information. A logical column numbering and labelling system is also employed for ease of recognition. Columns can be selected for any purpose based on any query of column attributes.
Light Level Plots
Used in conjunction with Lighting Reality, column position data can be extracted and lighting levels calculated. These results can then be imported and correctly shown graphically to ascertain the correct position of the columns. Lighting grids can be any size and spacing, with all masking options honoured with colour coding of results available to user-preferences. Values above and/or below threshold levels can be suppressed. Isolux footprints can also be effortlessly generated from any lamp using the Lighting Reality database.
3D Mountain Plot
Light levels are plotted in 3D – the coordinate Z value taken from the light level – to provide a visual assistance for the designer. AutoCAD Civil 3D can then be used to transform this into the traditional mountain plot.
Highway Power Cable (HPC)
An optional HPC module calculates cable sizes required to meet the 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671). HPC outputs include a full calculation results report, tabulated cable and test schedules, and also schematic diagrams.
Layout and Design Tools
KeyLIGHTS provides a range of tools to ensure accurate layout, whether this be linear or staggered arrangements, at variable or fixed distances, or setout along a footway to update lighting between existing columns for example. Symbols can be swapped automatically, for example from proposed to existing after scheme completion and customisable automatic keys can be created for symbols used in drawings.
Contours can quickly be generated either using Lighting Reality or directly from plotted light levels within AutoCAD Civil 3D
3D Driver's Eye Views Automatically generated
The full power of AutoCAD's 3D capabilities are harnessed into a simple to use tool. KeyLIGHTS generates driver's 3D views automatically to assist with safety audit, Other 3D features can be added to enhance the design drawings, including buildings, walls, trees, signs etc.
